Memorial Day

For Memorial Day this year we took a daytrip to the New Jersey shore with Michelle and Madelyn to visit our family friends the Browns. It was a beautiful day but very windy so we spent as much time as we could outside and the rest of the time in the house.

Aunt "Chel" and little Nathaniel.

Daddy and Nate....alone.

...and Peek-a-boo! Someone else pops his head up in the background to be a part of the photo :).

Here are Ben and Maddie playing together with a beachball.

Gary and Andrew took Ben to sit on their boat but could not bring it into the water since the battery died at the last minute. Ben enjoyed sitting on it and looking out over the water regardless.

Here's Audrey reading Ben a story and below that, Ben wakes their daughter Katelyn up from a nap. What fun it is to have children in the house when you are trying to rest! :)

Michelle, Katelyn and Gary were sunning themselves on the deck when Ben decided that Gary should be paying attention to him instead.

"Hello? Are you awake?"

Just chillin'...

Holding Nate

Ben says:
"Look at me! I'm holding Nate alone in my lap for the very first time now that he is not so floppy anymore. I love being a big brother!"

"Awww, I can be gentle with my baby brother and love holding him."

"How long do I really have to hold him?"

"Alright, I've had enough of this! I want to go and play!!"

How funny that Nate looks ENORMOUS in these photos! It seriously is the angle at which I am taking the picture. He's a big boy, but not THAT big. He looks bigger than Ben in these photos!

Pediatrician Update

Today was Nate's 2-month pediatrician appointment. I can't believe he is almost 10 weeks old already! He is doing very well developmentally and has been smiling, cooing, and tracking objects with his eyes a lot lately. He even started to roll over from tummy to back at 7 weeks, which is very early. He is between the 50th and 75th percentiles for height and weight.
Weight = 12 lbs. 10 oz.
Height = 23-3/4 inches

The poor guy had to have 6 immunizatons today :( and has been very drowsy this afternoon. poor little man!

Uh-oh!

As I was putting Nate up for his nap this morning, I all of a sudden heard "Oh no...Ben naughty!" from downstairs. Ha, I guess I tell him this far too often since he copies everything we say now :). So of course I braced myself for what was to come as I came back downstairs and was greeted by this...
The terrible twos begin... does it really only take less than a minute to unwind an entire roll of toilet paper? I literally just replaced it about an hour earlier.

Caught red-handed like a deer in headlights...

But I'm cute so Mommy can't get too angry with me :)

Playing with my mess while poor Mommy tries to clean up!

Two-Month Photos

Here are the professional photos we had taken this morning. Nate was so calm and complacent for the entire session - what a blessing since it's sometimes so hard to get good photos of infants. Of course he only smiles at me at this point in his life (for the most part) so they are mainly serious photos, but cute nonetheless.

And our favorite photo of just Nate today? Well, the Oscar goes to...

Here are a few photos of both Ben and Nate together. Ben loved being the big brother for these photos but loved the balloons that the photographer gave to him while we were dealing with Nate even more!

"Twins"

Nathaniel went for his 2-month photos this morning and although they took mainly pictures of him, we did get a few with his big brother. I got some great deals on clothing at the Pottery Barn Kids outlet this past weekend...including several matching shirts for the boys. How often do you find coordinating clothing in 0-3 months and 3T? What a find! So of course I couldn't resist dressing my "twin" men up for photos.
Here are some photos at home before we left for the studio.

Wide-eyed as Nate gets used to "sitting up."
Silly, smiley-face for Mommy...
The "twins"...

Professional photos to follow once they post them to the site.

9 Weeks Old

Nathaniel is 9 weeks old today and what a big boy he is becoming so quickly! He is going to the pediatrician on Friday for his check-up so we'll find out for sure, but it certainly seems that since "de-newborning" himself (i.e. stretching out his arms and legs instead of scrunching them up), he takes after his big brother in stature. He is in many 3-6 month clothes as of last week and seems to be another tall Martin boy ("where do they come from?" asks 5'7" Andrew!)
Here are a few photos of Nate chilling out in his room this afternoon. I gave him his new baby blanket for the first time today and he liked grasping it.

He also has such a strong neck and limbs that I decided to try him in the BebePOD chair for the first time today. Ben was in it at around this age so I figured Nate could probably handle it too. Well, he did great and barely slumped in it at all! He actually was content sitting in it watching me for about 5 minutes straight while I did some things around his room. Can you believe that little Nate is "sitting up" already?
