Ridin' Bikes

Our two outdoorsy guys just love spending time in this hot Pennsylvania sun and recently they have really taken a liking to riding their bikes. I think it has helped a lot that we have had several playgroups here where friends have brought their bikes over. It helped the boys see how much fun it is to ride bikes, especially Benjamin who can be very standoffish in trying new things, particularly if he knows he will not be perfect at doing it.

So, just a few months after their birthdays, when Ben got his bike and both boys got their helmets (Nate is still too short for the regular trike so he uses the ride-on for now), they have started to use them regularly. Ben really rides his bike now and has caught on to the pedaling business. Phew! I thought he'd be like I was and be terrified of riding a bike for a few more years! He still uses the training wheels but is moving in the right direction in terms of really being able to ride his bike.

We just think their helmets are hilarious - they are so big and bulky but the boys love wearing them (and all knee and elbow pads that go with them). Good thing they think the "cool" thing to do is to wear a fun bike helmet since it keeps them safe, too! Thank God for Hot Wheels and Buzz and Woody to entice the kids to wear their safety gear :)

Getting hot and sweaty in the 100 degree weather...but loving it!
